LOCH NESS MONSTER RETURNS! NEW SIGHTING REPORTED

Loch Ness - local couple saw shape in the water

Move over, Bigfoot — Nessie’s back!  Glad to see our old friend is making headlines again. It was starting to seem like Sasquatch had been hogging all the spotlight lately.

FOYERS shop and cafe owner Jan Hargreaves and her husband Simon believe they caught a glimpse of Loch Ness’s most elusive resident — Nessie.

It was while taking a break on the store’s front decking — looking out to the loch — when Mrs Hargreaves and kitchen worker Graham Baine spotted an unusual figure cutting a strange shape through the water.

“We were standing looking out and saw something that looked bizarre,” said Mrs Hargreaves.

“I said to my husband to come and have a look.

“We stand here all the time and look out and we see boats and kayaks but it didn’t look like anything we have seen here before.”

Despite the unidentified creature being quite a distance from their vantage point, 51-year-old Mrs Hargreaves said it had a long neck which was too long to be that of a seal and it was black in appearance.

“It went under the water and disappeared for probably 30 to 40 seconds and then came back up again,” said Mrs Hargreaves.

“It was around for a good four to five minutes. It was just so strange.”

Keen to stress she is not seeking publicity, Mrs Hargreaves does firmly believe what she saw was the Loch Ness Monster.

“It was so exciting,” she declared.

Since August last year, The Waterfall Cafe and Foyers Stores with post office, opposite the village’s famous Falls of Foyers, has been run by Mr and Mrs Hargreaves.

Nessie hunter Steve Feltham, who lives in a former mobile library turned research centre on Dores beach, said he heard about the possible sighting when he popped into the store last week and believes because it was from residents rather than tourists, it is more credible.

“I’m excited by the fact it was locals who had seen it,” said Mr Feltham.

“It’s quite a distance from the shop to the water and they watch everything that goes on there.

“For them to be impressed then there is a possibility it could have been Nessie.”

What particularly excited Mr Feltham was that it was from the exact same vantage point where Tim Binsdale shot the best footage of the legendary creature back in 1960.

BIGFOOT ‘FACE PRINT’ PRESS CONFERENCE

Well, I just finished watching the live broadcast of the press conference today revealing the supposed Bigfoot evidence found by Sanger Paranormal, and I’ve got to say I was less than impressed.

Here are the photos they released today. They are said to show the face and hand/knuckle prints of a Bigfoot that supposedly was peering into the windows of one of the investigators’ vehicles.

What do you think?  Bigfoot? Or bear?

Today Loren Coleman of cryptomundo.com posted the alleged photo on the site (Coleman received the image from one of his readers, Rick Sheen, who had saved the photo from Sanger’s own website, where it appeared briefly before being removed from the site). Here it is:

Now apparently the main stream media has picked up on the story as well. Responding to Loren Coleman’s lead on the story, here’s what Lee Spiegel of AOL News reported:

California Bigfoot investigators were shocked over Memorial Day weekend when they found strange markings and hair on their pickup truck windows.

Now, they’re hoping DNA tests will prove once and for all the existence of the legendary man-beast.

“On the passenger side window, when I first saw it, I almost threw up,” said Jeffrey Gonzalez, an AT&T electronics technician and founder of the Sanger Paranormal Society.

Gonzalez and several others were in California’s Sierra National Forest searching for evidence to confirm the reality of the creature. When it started to snow at their campsite, they were forced to leave two of their vehicles behind.

“Two days later, we came back to pick up our vehicles and that’s when we found the impressions,” Gonzalez told AOL Weird News, recalling what he and his companions noticed on the passenger window.

“Apparently, the creature was looking in the window and left behind dirt and oil on it, leaving such an awesome picture, you can see the nose, the eye, the hair all over the face and the shoulders — it’s creepy, and it’s not a bear.”

Gonzalez and his friends — including a former science teacher and a correctional officer — also found a 12-inch footprint at the site. They concluded their hairy intruder wasn’t a bear because none of the four ice chests that were filled with food on the back of Gonzalez’s truck had been touched.

But it wasn’t just the passenger side window that presented a surprise — the driver’s side of the truck showed the imprint of a much larger creature, strongly suggesting there were two unexplained visitors to the campsite.

“An impression was left of a nose, eyes and lips, but they were extremely large,” Gonzalez said. “The lips measured about 6 inches long. You can see that the whole face was full of hair, so when it leaned up against the window, you can see the depth of the eye socket in the glass.

“I’ve shown people — non-believers — this photograph and this totally freaked them out.”

After Gonzalez returned home that day, he called a forensic expert to take DNA samples of the fur or hair that was left around the window impressions.

SCIENTISTS FIND ‘WEREWOLF’ GENE

Supatra "Nat" Sasuphan, the world's hairiest child.

Scientists have discovered a genetic mutation responsible for a disorder that causes people to sprout thick hair on their faces and bodies.

Hypertrichosis, sometimes called “werewolf syndrome” is a very rare condition, with fewer than 100 cases documented worldwide. But researchers knew the disorder runs in families, and in 1995 they traced the approximate location of the mutation to a section of the X chromosome (one of the two sex chromosomes) in a Mexican family affected by hypertrichosis.

Men with the syndrome have hair covering their faces and eyelids, while women grow thick patches on their bodies. In March, a Thai girl with the condition got into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s hairiest child.

A man in China with congenital hypertrichosis helped researchers break the case. Xue Zhang, a professor of medical genetics at the Peking Union Medical College, tested the man and his family and found an extra chunk of genes on the X chromosome. The researchers then returned to the Mexican family and also found an extra gene chunk (which was different from that of the Chinese man) in the same location of their X chromosomes. [Top 10 Worst Hereditary Conditions]

The extra DNA may switch on a hair-growth gene nearby, resulting in runaway furriness. The best bet for a culprit, wrote study researcher Pragna Patel of the University of Southern California, is a gene called SOX3, which is known to play a role in hair growth.

“If in fact the inserted sequences turn on a gene that can trigger hair growth, it may hold promise for treating baldness or hirsutism [excessive hair growth] in the future, especially if we could engineer ways to achieve this with drugs or other means,” Patel said in a statement.

MYSTERY SEA CREATURE BAFFLES MARINE BIOLOGISTS

A MYSTERY sea creature spotted in the Mersey has experts baffled.

The “monster” was snapped off Seacombe Ferry at 9am yesterday by photographer Mark Harrison.

Paul Renolds, from the Blue Planet Aquarium, who studied the photos, said: “It is virtually impossible to actually identify, but this is the time of year when large numbers of basking sharks, the second largest shark species in the world after whale sharks, head towards waters off the Isle of Man.”

NEW SPOKANE RIVER BIGFOOT VIDEO

Wow, two great Bigfoot videos in the same week!  First the Ketchikan, Alaska video and now this new one from the Spokane River area.

Here’s the clip, originally posted by YouTube user samantha13950 with the following description:

While hiking, we accidentally caught an image of bigfoot walking through the woods. I didn’t even notice until I got home and saw it on the computer! This scared the crap out of us!

BREAKING NEWS: GREY BIGFOOT FILMED IN KETCHIKAN, ALASKA

Still frame from bigfoot video, Ketchikan, AK

This YouTube video was uploaded on May 10, 2011. While the creature appears very briefly (less than a second), it is somewhat clearer than the typical “blobsquatch” videos out there.  That, combined with the cameraman’s apparent genuine fear and excitement reflected in his voice, makes this video worth taking a closer look.

Here’s what the original post by YouTube user putua76 had to say about the clip:

I was on a logging road in Ketchikan hiking with my friend when I saw it! Boy did my heart start racing!! It was about 40 yards from the road! Not sure if it knew I was there or not, because the noise of flowing water from the stream. It seemed to travel fast! It made my hair stand up!! At one point you can see a whitish yellowish thing in it’s hand! I believe it was skunk cabbage. Not sure, but it is in bloom.
You see it jump and after that point it just seems to disappear. There was a lot of brush and trees between it and I, I could not tell where it had gone. It was a scary sort of exciting feeling at the same time!! We went to search for tracks but the river bed where we thought it was walking was full of perfect skiping rocks, we found no prints! If there is a BigFoot, Sasquatch, or Kushtaka I swear I saw him!!

MONGOLIAN DEATH WORM DOCUMENTARY RELEASED

Mongolia, a land of mystery. Where the grave of great warrior king Genghis Khan, who created an empire stretching from the Baltic and Black to the Bering seas, remains undiscovered. Where the national dish has becomeMongolian barbecue, the stir-fry buffet variety invented in the United States.

And where giant, scarlet worms burrow in the barren expanse of one of the world’s largest, coldest deserts, spewing fiery acid and electrocuting unlucky camels from a distance.

Yes, a creature so fearsomely odd that its name — which also happens to be the title of a cheesy Syfy Channel/Lions Gate DVD release set for April 26 — deserves the honor of its own paragraph:

The Mongolian Death Worm.

An interpretation of the Mongolian Death Worm by Belgian painter Pieter Dirkx.
Just as intrepid explorers still search for Genghis Khan’s grave, reality-TV crews still anxiously seek the sausage-like, homicidal pseudo-penis dentata dubbed the olgoi-khorkhoi, or the “intestine worm.” Even the august National Geographic sent its own beast hunter, Pat Spain, in search of the Mongolian Death Worm.

He didn’t find it, but managed to add to MDW’s mythos by noting it can explode when angered, as if zapping helpless goat herders from a distance weren’t enough.

Syfy Channel’s own documentary show, “Destination Truth,” has been there, too, as have others, though according to this Mongolian site that offers death worm tours, the first digital age quest may have been by a 1994 Czech TV team.

Like everybody else, the Czechs came up empty-handed. That’s not a surprise, since the originator of the whole Mongolian Death Worm meme was the storied, tough bwana Roy Chapman Andrews, said to be an inspiration for Indiana Jones.

In his 1926 book “On the Trail of Ancient Man,” Andrews recounted with some skepticism a range of secondhand observations from native Mongolians of the so-called intestine worm — so named for its outward appearance, not its choice of alimentary dwelling.

Unfortunately, history leaves us little more than eyewitness testimony of worm sightings, detailed as they often are.

The MDW is dubious enough that cryptozoologist Loren Coleman, director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine, displays a vintage model of Japanese kaiju movie heroMothra in the larval stage, but labels it as the Mongolian Death Worm. Youngsters often ask what the label is doing on Mothra.

Mongo-D “is not a celebrity cryptid like the Loch Ness Monster or Yeti,” Coleman told AOL News. It’s more of a second-tier creature, he said, “not like a unicorn or a centaur, but it’s very much a shadowy folklore creature.”

So why is the worm enjoying a sudden cultural renaissance among couch explorers?

“You could go to Lake Champlain and look for Champ, or you could go look for Bigfoot, but that’s not so exotic,” Coleman said. “These documentary film companies are looking to sell concepts and sell advertising.”

The fact that Genghis Khan Beer is plentiful and costs about $1.15 a large can, or 1,412 Mongoliantogrog, probably doesn’t hurt either. Unlike, say, Burton and Speke’s nearly year-long Victorian-era expedition searching for the Nile’s source, reality docu-junkets last a couple of days — hardly time for serious scientific investigation.

Plus, Coleman said, “People are getting bored, and so they like different kinds of cryptids.”

The single review on Amazon of “Mongolian Death Worm” the movie, by a Tammy N. Zhang, which 0 of 9 people found helpful, appears to support that conclusion:

Its the best creature movie yet and a treasure guarded by killer man-eating worms only a genious could think of a movie like this. Nice level of gore like the one where blood and chunks of meat came flying out of the well, A-W-E-S-O-M-E. Good action like guns and explosions that are big and cool. How can it get better than this, then all of a sudden a giant one came out of a big crack in the wall and ate a couple of people but still awesome. [sic]

Awesome indeed, especially considering the movie stars Sean Patrick Flanery, who once played the young Indiana Jones.

The thing is, a creature such as this could almost exist if it didn’t have quite so many unique characteristics, said May Berenbaum, head of the department of entomology — the study of insects — at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

For instance, among bugs, “spitting acid is not a unique and unprecedented accomplishment,” Berenbaum told AOL News. “There are plenty of arthropods that rely on acid.” For instance, she added, there’s the vinegaroon, or whipscorpion, which “sprays from a revolving turret on its abdomen, literally acetic acid,” the key component of vinegar.

Really big worms are not uncommon, either. In Australia, there are earthworms that can reach 5 feet long. But it’s the electrical jolt component, the notion that Mongo-D is some sort of “taser worm” that can kill from a distance, that’s most problematic, according to Berenbaum. Her name might be familiar to “X-Files” fans from the episode “War of the Coprophages,” about possible alien robotic cockroaches, in which the writers paid homage to her as Dr. “Bambi” Berenbaum.

“There are certainly intestinal worms that can establish residence internally and cause major stress, and heavy levels of parasites can bring down an animal, but from the inside, not the outside,” she said.

She stops short of ruling out the existence of the Mongolian Death Worm — it may be a misnamed snake or some other phylum-bender. “Certain aspects of its biology are not at all unfamiliar,” Berenbaum said. “But when you put them all together, I am not sanguine about the process of finding one soon.”

BIGFOOT & BABY CAUGHT ON TRAILCAM?

This just in this morning from Craig Woolheater over at Cryptomundo.com.

Last night on Steve Kulls’ Blogtalkradio show, Squatchdetective Radio, Kulls publicly unveiled the following photo:

Vermont Trailcam Bigfoot & Baby

It appears to show a large hairy creature bending over, and what looks like a small hand or paw clinging to the fur of the larger creature, possibly a baby.

Vermont Trail Cam Bigfoot

Here are a couple of comparison photos showing the massive size of the creature compared to a human and a coyote that were both photographed from the same trailcam at the location.

The trailcam had been set up by a man who wanted to see what was eating all the apples off his tree.  You can see several apples on the ground in the above photos (perhaps that is why this creature is bending over, to gather them).

You can read the full investigation here: http://squatchdetective.com/103009.htm

What do you think?  Is it a sasquatch? A hoax?  Could it be something else?

NEW CHUPACABRA VIDEO FROM ARIZONA

Is this the mysterious Chupacabra?
Is this the mysterious Chupacabra? The creature was chased down by a man in Goodyear, Arizona.

The following video was shot by Darrin Jackson, who was driving through a neighborhood in Goodyear, Arizona when he came upon this strange creature.

“I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I seen it, and it looked real strange, then as I kinda drive by I say ‘That looks just like the chupacabra on the video I saw, the thing they found in Texas!’ ”

At that point Jackson turned his car around to get a better look. He managed to get a good minute or so of footage of the frightened creature in a Fry’s parking lot while he contemplated what to do next.

“I said, well if I call 911, they’re gonna think I’m crazy if I say I saw the chupacabra. So I just said I seen a crazy animal.”

While on the phone with animal control, the creature managed to slip through a gate and escaped into a sewer.

Here’s the video of Jackson recounting his sighting, watch it and let us know your thoughts. Mangy coyote, Mexican hairless dog, or blood-sucking cryptid?  You decide.
