GARDENER IMPALES HIS FACE W/ SHEARS AND LIVES!

How crazy is this?! This man impales himself through the eye-socket with pruning shears and lives to talk about it!

MSNBC writes:

TUCSON, Ariz. — An 86-year-old Arizona man is expected to make a full recovery after being impaled through his eye socket with pruning shears.

University Medical Center said Monday that Leroy Luetscher of Green Valley was working in his yard on July 30 when he dropped a pair of pruning shears, which landed point-side down in the ground.

When Luetscher went to pick them up, he lost his balance and fell face-down on the handle.

The handle penetrated his eye socket and went down into his neck, resting on the external carotid artery.

“You wouldn’t believe your eyes,” trauma surgeon Dr. Julie Wynne said in a statement. “Half of the pruning shears was sticking out and the other half was in his head.”

MAN FROM CUBA HAS 24 PERFECT DIGITS!

Hey, we have a similar exhibit here at the Museum Of The Weird! It’s a picture of a football team from 1912 in New Hampshire where every player has six fingers on one hand, including the coaches! What are the chances of that? Apparently, pretty good.

Stuff writes:

They call him ”Twenty-Four.” Yoandri Hernandez Garrido’s nickname comes from the six perfectly formed fingers on each of his hands and the six impeccable toes on each foot.

Hernandez is proud of his extra digits and calls them a blessing, saying they set him apart and enable him to make a living by scrambling up palm trees to cut coconuts and posing for photographs in this eastern Cuban city popular with tourists. One traveler paid $US10 ($NZ11.90) for a picture with him, Hernandez said, a bonanza in a country with an average salary of just $US20 a month.

”It’s thanks to my 24 digits that I’m able to make a living, because I have no fixed job,” Hernandez said.

WORLDS OLDEST PERSON TURNS 115!

This is just incredible! Can you imagine living basically TWO lifetimes?

The Telegraph writes:

Besse Cooper’s birthday celebrations were held at her residence in Monroe, Georgia – although this year, unlike last, there was no Elvis impersonator at the party.

A researcher from Guinness Book of World Records was on hand at Mrs Cooper’s birthday party to deliver the Tennessee native her second plaque that certifies her as the oldest person on the planet.

“We thought one was enough,” said her son, Sidney Cooper, 76.

“She still remembers things and thinks clearly and talks.

“But she has her good days and her bad days. I’d say she sleeps about 80 per cent of the time.”

VIDEO: UFO LANDS IN SIBERIA, ALIENS EXIT CRAFT

They're here: In this still from the film clip, an object which appears to be disc-shaped with flashing lights hovers above the Siberia landscape

For an alien looking to explore Earth, the frozen wastes of Siberia may not be the most attractive of landing locations.

But if this film footage is to be believed, that’s exactly where these ‘little green men’ chose to land their UFO.

The clip, filmed in the remote Irkutsk region of Siberia, appears to show a strange glowing craft and five aliens walking about in the snow.

It shows what seems to be an alien about four feet tall, standing 15 feet away from its glowing craft, with four other similar figures nearby.

The short clip was taken two days after mysterious lights illuminated the Siberian night skies above Bayanday, also in Irkutsk.

‘These two videos from two independent witnesses show that a UFO event of Roswell-sized proportions has taken place in Russia,’ said UFO expert Mike Cohen.

‘Two days after these clips were taken the town of Bayanday reported a crash of a huge pink and blue glowing object.

‘An enormous explosion was then heard over a wide area.’

He claimed police and rescue departments were flooded with phone calls from frightened residents.

‘The military soon confirmed that it had not been doing any exercises in the area and therefore cannot be responsible for any reports of UFOs,’ he added.

But he claims the authorities organised a cover-up of the UFO landing.

Officials declared the event classified and told journalists the area of impact would not be revealed, he said.

Only hours prior to the March 1 event, air-traffic controllers in Yakutks, Siberia, claim to have picked up a UFO on radar traveling at 6000 mph at a height of 65,000ft.

When they tried to speak with the crew of the craft they heard bizarre cat noises being uttered to them.

‘What I want to know is did the craft actually crash at all or was this just a noisy landing?’ said Mike.

The latest UFO claim to come out of Siberia comes months after the apparent discovery of an alien’s body was revealed as a hoax.

In April, two students who claimed to have recovered the body from a UFO crash site admitted that the creature was in fact made out of BREAD.

Friends Timur Hilall, 18, and Kirill Vlasov, 19, shot the video that showed the alien’s mangled remains frozen in snow in Irkutsk, Siberia.

The pair were questioned by police over their ‘extraterrestrial discovery’ but admitted to their stunt.

But not before their creation became an internet sensation, drawing almost 700,000 hits on YouTube.

Their find was deemed serious enough for the Kremlin to get involved and a spokesman from the Russian interior ministry confirmed the hoax.

‘We found the alien in one of the student’s homes,’ he said.

‘It was lying under his bed and an examination of it revealed it had been made of bread crumbs which were covered in chicken skin.’

Prosecutors are now considering whether or not the pair have committed any crimes.

Join THE SHADOW HOUR to talk about paranormal debunking.

The Shadow Hour

The Shadow Hour

10:00 PM CST, Wednesday, 8/24/2011: It’s that time of the week… time to ease into your favorite chair, sit back and relax as we explore the sublime world of the strange, the odd, and the unusual. It’s time once again for… The Shadow Hour.

ABC’s Nightline has begun a series called “Beyond Belief” that is examining paranormal claims.  Their first segment, which aired 8/16/2011, mostly featured Banachek, a magician who is an outspoken critic of psychics.   Since Banachek is a mentalist, a performer who uses stage magicians’ techniques to simulate mind reading and other types phenomena, he is well positioned to discus how such things can be faked.  He will appear on Nightline again to demonstrate his “million dollar challenge” where he says he will give $1 million to anyone who can pass his test.

Clearly, Banachek, and people like him, believe passionately that they are fighting an important battle.  They feel that people are being cheated and harmed by a belief in psychic phenomena.  How does their concern affect other areas of the paranormal?  Is the search for ghosts and other curiosities simply a sort of escape?  Are we causing more harm than good?

Tonight, we’ll open the lines to your calls to discuss the debunking claims and how it compares to your own experiences.  We will try to follow these segments and continue the discussion as the Nightline series continues.

As always, you can listen right here with our blogtalkradio widget! You can listen to past broadcasts at any time, or tune in tonight (Wednesday, August 17th) at 10pm Central for the live broadcast. See you in the shadows…

MAN SCALES MOUNTAIN ON FOOT USING CABLE CAR WIRE!

This guy has some serious guts and is risking his life to raise money for UNICEF, incredible!

Daily Mail writes:

A daredevil stuntman has scaled a 10,000ft mountain – by creeping up a two-inch thick cable car wire.

Freddy Nock took 90 minutes to edge to the top of the Zugspitze mountain in south Bavaria – without any safety equipment.

Nock, who began his highwire career at the age of 11, said of his 3,000ft long trek: ‘I don’t want to do it again, not without a balancing pole. It was exhausting.’

The Swiss-born tightrope artist now plans to submit his feat to the Guinness Book of Records as the ‘longest and highest wire walk above sea level without a balancing pole.’

The stunt was part of a week of challenges Nock will undertake this week to raise money for Unicef.

He said: ‘I will attempt seven records during this week. It has everything, incline, to walk down a cable car, walk across a lake that is more than three kilometers, which in the highest mountain area, in the Jungfraujoch in Switzerland, that is more than 3,800 meters high, higher than this one.’

WOMAN ATTACKED BY “500 YEAR OLD VAMPIRE”

Texas police have arrested a teen after he broke into a woman’s apartment and attacked her, making hissing sounds and claiming to be a 500-year-old vampire.

Lyle Monroe Bensley, 19, of Galveston, allegedly entered the woman’s bedroom early Saturday morning and bit into her neck as she lay on the bed.

Wearing just a pair of boxer shorts and covered in tattoos, Bensley then reportedly dragged the woman out of her unit where she managed to run away and get into a nearby vehicle.

She later called the police who said Bensley climbed two fences to get away from them, yelling that he “didn’t want to have to feed on humans”.

Bensley told the police that he “needed to feed,” and then said that he has been “alive for 500 years.”

He was taken to Galveston County Jail where he told guards to restrain him for their own safety, police said.

He has been charged with burglary with intent to commit assault with a $40,000 Bond.
